The infamous Black Hole statistic, as researched and coined by Beerleaguer regular contributor George S., was featured on Tuesday's broadcast of Daily News Live.
The stat, which illustrates in shocking detail the Phillies inability to produce runs and win games with David Bell and Mike Lieberthal hitting back-to-back in the lineup, was passed along via e-mail to columnist Bill Conlin.
Conlin passed along the data to host Michael Barkann and the show opened its Phillies segment with an overlay of George's findings. Barkann called the numbers "incredible" or "astonishing," or something like that.

I was just going to stop in and let you know about this. Great job by both of you. I was gonna call foul until Barkan just said "Reading Eagle," at which point I was sure it was from you.

Jason, did you email Conlin with the info? When I heard Barkann mention "George who writes for the Reading Eagle", it made me wonder if Barkann's wires got crossed. Either way, I think it was great to see it on there. Good work guys!

I forwarded George's post to Conlin in an email and said it was a comment from my site, but between my Reading Eagle e-mail address and the info that followed, it came out as "George from the Reading Eagle."
Either way, I'm thrilled. I think the stats shocked everyone on the show, and from what I'm reading on the Phillies Phorum, it has a lot of people talking. It's a fascinating tidbit, and I'm glad more people know about it. Good work, George.
