The Canadian Press is reporting that Scott Mathieson and Aaron Myette have officially been added to the Canadian roster for the World Baseball Classic.
The 21-year-old Mathieson is considered the best right-handed prospect in the Phillies minor league system according to Baseball America and will open the season in Reading. He is a native of Aldergrove, B.C. and pitched for Canada in the 2005 World Cup.
Myette, a 28-year-old right-hander from New Westminster, B.C, signed as a minor league free agent and will be in camp with the Phillies as a non-roster invitee. He has seen action with the White Sox, Rangers, Indians and Reds, and started 10 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2003.
